The first time through, the music decided to echo itself and sounded baaad. Your shopkeeper isn't a shopkeeper, but I guess I can forgive that since it's a parody. The graphics were a bit distorted, and it felt overall kinda cramped. The arrow keys were irritating; when you were supposed to CLICK the pendant, I tried walking to it instead, which resulted in a restart of the movie.

However, all problems aside, since it was Chrono Trigger it is worthy. Though not laugh-out-loud, it was a bit humorous at times.

Cryokenetic responds:

Yeesh. The arrow key/movement thing never occured to me! I'll try and fix it up somehow.

I have an idea. Though I hate it.

STOP SUBMITTING YOUR FLASHES TO NEWGROUNDS! My reasoning? You could be making SERIOUS money with this, and if you put it out in the world for free, that's a LOT of money you're out. Quit your job and join a professional animation team. Hell, buy it out.

All I want to know, is when are you releasing the DVD? I'd seriously pay $20.00 to see the rest. Damn... I still can't believe what I just saw.

My prediction, when you submit the finished flash (assuming you do), is that you'll emerge from the portal already ranked high enough to take #1 Best Ever. It'll just go up from there. Holy crap holy crap holy crap, I still can't believe that.

... I can't go into the Flash Portal for a while now, thanks to you. I'd blam everything until I readjusted my standards.

(note: they put a max-limit for 10 on everything... I'd have given you 100 / 100 if I could have)

RobsH66 responds:

As enticing as the thought may be of starting a business and making a bunch of money off my movies, I'm only 17 and right now I have too much to worry about (school, applying to colleges, etc.) to have to deal with something like that. I'd rather wait until I'm done with college and I have perfected my technique before I worry about making a career out of this.

As for the DVD- as much as I'd like to put one out, there's the issue of the copyrighted music and nonprofit-use-only 3D models used in the movie. As long as I keep the movie free, I'm fine, but once I start selling it I take the risk of getting into a lot of trouble. I wish I could distribute DVDs for free, but it would cost a great deal of money to make copies for everybody who wanted one, and that's money that I don't have right now.

So for now, just be content with the fact that you're getting all this online for free. :)

I gave you a 0 because the sound made the rest of the movie unwatchable.

Jamicus responds:

i don't like you.

It was kinda short. The sound was excellent, and the animation was very good. Not much as far as backstory, though.

3/5, raising score to 2.33

You know this already, but you'll make it through the portal.

Famicom-Kid responds:

I know, cause I am awesome...

My only real problem with it is that it was a promo. Sure, you're going to increase your fanbase, and I myself will end up there... But did you have to toy with us so badly? Seriously... Watching that is like being blueballed!

Good work, though.
5/5

Renshu responds:

I know. I'm an asshole. It was originally going to be longer... I'm a real impatient jerk. Since everyone here wants me to turn this into a flash series, I might just do it... So then, no more blueballs!

Over half-way through, your use of the abbreviation "w/e" seemed very out of place. It's not IM, it's not BBS. It's flash, and from what I recall, all the text up to that point was spelled out.

After the main character goes through "the door," the sonic character (I believe) makes a comment followed by !!!!!!!!!!11. I know I sometimes do that just to make fun of all the people who are so "enthusiastic" when they type that they do it by accident... I can't tell if that's what you're doing.

Once the main character is inside the "hidden door," the dark gray text from the blobish "I'll empower you" thing is _REALLY_ hard to read, because of its placement over the background.

I think that's pretty much it; other than that, it was really good.

4/5

Kirbopher responds:

Well I specifically made the text that ciolor because it represented that Alpha couldn't hear what the voice wwas saying, and did you notice that the text got clearer with each sentence? Also yes, I made some of the characters talk like that on purpose because that's how a lot of people talk on the internet. The main characters talk normally though, more or less.

Ya know, of all the "you need to die because America is the best" reviews, I find it funny that few, if any, had correct grammar and spelling. I find it great that the United States--which is my country--is the greatest country in the world, and it makes me proud that so few of my fellow countrymen know how to use the English language.

Now for your movie:

I do believe the US is capable of a similar action. We ARE the most advanced nation in the world, so we ARE the most likely to pull such a stunt. Terrorize the public enough and there will be an outcry for a solution--no matter how much freedom is given up, or how devastating the result. We like a quick fix with no thought put toward the side effects and aftermath.

I liked your cartoon not only on an intellectual basis, but also from the music, animation and sounds--even if a few of the sounds were easily recognizable. I'm glad it's on the front page, cos I would likely never have seen it otherwise.

(If I'd seen it in the portal, I'd have given it a 5)

Flyborg responds:

Thanks for that, very insightful. I'm also glad and very surprised that it's on the front page - I thought I'd have to work my way up to that - like get 5th place one time, 2nd place later, and eventually, if I'm lucky, get on the front page. :D

WOAH!!!

I finally get to see a flash worthy of a 5. And what's more, I'm proud to say I'm one of the first reviewers for a future-front page flash!

Animation... EXCELLENT
Sound... (voices started to sound the same...) [BUT WAS STILL ABOVE PAR!]
Humor... Oh Jesus, I can't say if I've seen something much funnier on NG

Ya know, I remember that story from my childhood. I'd forgotten it up till today. Now I doubt I'll ever be able to forget it again.

5/5. You have my support allll the way.

ayegowj responds:

Wow, thanks for the review. I actually did all the voices, so theres a good reason why they all sound the same. =)

Pretty good

I liked the music selections to fit the scenes, though "Don't Worry, Be Happy" cut off abruptly (if you care about what your reviewers suggest, I'd say give it a fade or SOMETHING)

I'm glad it had some sort of plot; just for it, I'm adding 2 to your score. I noticed the character didn't know how to use an apostrophe when he spoke. Maybe if the main character could use the apostrophe correctly, the movie'd have gotten another point added to the score...

2/5. Good effort, but I think you could have improved on it.

CrawlAway responds:

who cares if i didnt add a couple apostrophes! w/e thx for the six

If you like my music, then visit my webpage. Since the NG description box is waay too small for music, I decided I'd put up a more in-depth description for each song. Best viewed at 1024x768; uses CSS and frames
